I've been looking for info about getting grants to buy or create plug in hybrid cars. I work for a non-profit and we were interested in getting hybrid cars for some of our outreach workers.
On less busy roads I find it easy to vary my speed depending on the terrain. That is I coast up and down hills but the variation in my speed and the lack of break lights could become dangerous. Is there a good way to hypermile and be stingy with gas and be safe too?
When I'm hypermiling in my prizm, should I use the break or the engine to slow down? I've heard that when hypermiling you don't want to use the break because it ruins your fuel economy.
Is it illegal to go down a hill in neutral with your engine on? I know in some states it is but in others not? I' drive mostly in New Hampshire and Vermont.
I drive a stock 2000 blue Chevrolet Prizm. It is nice because it is Toyota Corolla quality with Chevrolet resale value. I tell everyone that, "My dad bought a 4-pack when I was in high school and everyone time one breaks we unwrap another."
I've driven a beige one, a blue green one, a white one and now I'm back to blue.
Also known as the Geo Prizm.
I'm not a big hypermiler but recently I found myself in a beautiful place without enough gas to get home. I knew enough about the landscape that If I could get myself to the top of Sugar Hill, I could pretty much coast down the hill to a gas station. It worked and was actually quite fun.
